{"id":33468,"date":"2021-11-24T16:47:46","date_gmt":"2021-11-24T15:47:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.leblogdescoutheillas.com\/?p=33468"},"modified":"2021-11-25T08:04:56","modified_gmt":"2021-11-25T07:04:56","slug":"33468","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.leblogdescoutheillas.com\/?p=33468","title":{"rendered":"Derni\u00e8re heure avant Thanksgiving"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Derni\u00e8re heure avant Thanksgiving<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><i style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Demain, c\u2019est Thanksgiving, la f\u00eate de famille la plus importante aux Etats-Unis , plus\u00a0<\/i><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"caret-color: #0000ff;\"><i>importante<\/i><\/span><\/span><i style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u00a0m\u00eame que \u00a0le Spring Break et le Super Bowl.<\/i><br \/>\n<em style=\"color: #0000ff;\">A Thanksgiving, les Am\u00e9ricains aiment \u00e0 se retrouver pour boire des cocktails et manger de la dinde.<\/em>\u00a0<em style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Pour moi, je me suis fait une id\u00e9e\u00a0: Thanksgiving, c\u2019est le jour o\u00f9 l\u2019Am\u00e9rique remercie Dieu d\u2019\u00eatre l\u2019Am\u00e9rique.<\/em>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>Mais pour beaucoup d\u2019autres, l\u2019origine de cette f\u00eate reste myst\u00e9rieuse.<\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>Alors voici ce qu\u2019Art Buchwald, chroniqueur \u00e0 l\u2019International Herald Tribune (quotidien US en langue anglaise \u00e9dit\u00e9 \u00e0 Paris, malheureusement disparu en 2013), avait \u00e9crit pour expliquer plus clairement \u00e0 ses lecteurs fran\u00e7ais ce qu\u2019est vraiment Thanksgiving.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>Et thanks given to Jim qui m\u2019a forwarded cette petite artiqueul un long te<\/em><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><u><i>mps<\/i><i style=\"caret-color: #0000ff;\">\u00a0ago<\/i><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile : Chacun son \u00a0go\u00fbt \u00e0 Thanksgiving<\/h5>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>(The Turkey Growers Association has approved this message.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">One of our most important holidays is Thanksgiving Day, known in France as le Jour de Merci Donnant.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Le Jour de Merci Donnant was first <!--more-->started by a group of Pilgrims (P\u00e8lerins) who fled from l&rsquo;Angleterre before the McCarran Act to found a colony in the New World (le Nouveau Monde) where they could shoot Indians (les Peaux-Rouges) and eat turkey (dinde) to their heart&rsquo;s content.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They landed at a place called Plymouth (now a famous voiture Am\u00e9ricaine) in a wooden sailing ship called the Mayflower (or Fleur de Mai) in 1620. But while the P\u00e8lerins were killing the dindes, the Peaux-Rouges were killing the P\u00e8lerins, and there were several hard winters ahead for both of them. The only way the Peaux- Rouges helped the P\u00e8lerins was when they taught them to grow corn (ma\u00efs).The reason they did this was because they liked corn with their P\u00e8lerins.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 1623, after another harsh year, the P\u00e8lerins&rsquo; crops were so good that they decided to have a celebration and give thanks because more ma\u00efs was raised by the P\u00e8lerins than P\u00e8lerins were killed by Peaux-Rouges.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Every year on the Jour de Merci Donnant, parents tell their children an amusing story about the first celebration.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It concerns a brave capitaine named Miles Standish (known in France as Kilom\u00e8tres Deboutish) and a young, shy lieutenant named Jean Alden. Both of them were in love with a flower of Plymouth called Priscilla Mullens (no translation). The vieux capitaine said to the jeune lieutenant:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00ab\u00a0Go to the damsel Priscilla (allez tr\u00e8s vite chez Priscilla), the loveliest maiden of Plymouth (la plus jolie demoiselle de Plymouth). Say that a blunt old captain, a man not of words but of action (un vieux Fanfan la Tulipe), offers his hand and his heart, the hand and heart of a soldier. Not in these words, you know, but this, in short, is my meaning.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00ab\u00a0I am a maker of war (je suis un fabricant de la guerre) and not a maker of phrases. You, bred as a scholar (vous, qui \u00eates pain comme un \u00e9tudiant), can say it in elegant language, such as you read in your books of the pleadings and wooings of lovers, such as you think best adapted to win the heart of the maiden.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Although Jean was fit to be tied (convenable \u00e0 \u00eatre emball\u00e9), friendship prevailed over love and he went to his duty. But instead of using elegant language, he blurted out his mission.Priscilla was muted with amazement and sorrow (rendue muette par l&rsquo;\u00e9tonnement et la tristesse).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At length she exclaimed, interrupting the ominous silence: \u00ab\u00a0If the great captain of Plymouth is so very eager to wed me, why does he not come himself and take the trouble to woo me?\u00a0\u00bb (O\u00f9 est-il, le vieux Kilom\u00e8tres? Pourquoi ne vient-il pas aupr\u00e8s de moi pour tenter sa chance?)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Jean said that Kilom\u00e8tres Deboutish was very busy and didn&rsquo;t have time for those things. He staggered on, telling what a wonderful husband Kilom\u00e8tres would make.
